With The Chelsea Flower Show in full swing, floral pop-ups are adorning London’s shops and restaurants in SW3, Sam Norton gives the low-down on where to go to get in the spirit...
THE IVY CHELSEA GARDEN
One brand that has always done this well and continues all year round (in Chelsea anyway) is The Ivy. This year The Ivy Chelsea Garden is decked out in a pretty pastel wildflower display, with the theme continuing inside with a floral ceiling through to the al fresco dining space. You can even contribute to the continuing floral landscape by taking a handful of wildflower seeds to spread a trail of wild blooms across London.
We recommend settling in for the evening to enjoy the scenery and a cocktail or several at the bar. Amongst all the usual favourites there are two limited edition floral cocktails for the occasion - The Silent Sparkle (Silent Pool Gin, ginger and lemongrass cordial, lime juice and Ivy Champagne garnished with lavender) and, The Camomile Garden (Silent Pool Gin, honey water and Fever Tree tonic, garnished with kaffir lime leaf and orange).
THE IVY MARKET GRILL
If you’re venturing into town, head into Covent Garden where the Ivy Market Grill is also pulling out all the floral stops, having partnered with the iconic Jo Malone Brand in celebration of the perfumer's new Blossom collection. There’s a stunning floral exterior inspired by the frangipani flowers, silk blossoms star magnolias and orange blossoms that are unique to the new Malone collection.
There will be two special edition cocktails on the menu, the Silk Blossom Cosmo and a non-alcoholic Orange Blossom Bloom, until 15 June.
THE IVY TOWER BRIDGE
If floral delights aren’t your thing, but you still fancy a sophisticated evening with flowing drinks and a bit of music, then the Ivy Tower Bridge is collaborating with Busk in London. This is an initiative supported by The London Mayor and champions street performance artists. Partnering with Slingsby Gin (music and gin - we love this), a series of musicians will perform at the restaurant on occasions from until June. Enjoy fabulous river views, live music, and of course carefully crafted gin infused cocktails.
Flowers aside, in celebration of national BBQ week, Nikkei Restaurant Chotto Matte is launching an outdoor grill. This pop-up, street food inspired BBQ will ignite its flames on 27th May, serving up its popular Japanese-Peruvian cuisine in the form of Halloumi Teriyaki and Courgette and Eryngii Mushroom and the favourite - Pollo Den Miso.
